Air Transat is having a real sale on some flight to and from Paris. CAD$186.10 return plus fees (which as you know is really CAD$592.68 with taxes.) But it's nonstop and it's available via many websites including FairPrice.ca

WestJet and SouthWest have announced a partnership to fly to International destinations. Flights are set to take off in late 2009.
American Airlines announced today that as of the 15th of June they will begin charging for the 1st piece of luggage. The charge is $15 for the first piece. Delta has already said that they will not be charging.
Interesting question... when they are charging you for the service, should the liability be higher? Shouldn't you get a refund of the service charge as well as a higher liability when they lose your luggage?
For the moment, unless AA is $15 cheaper for a flight... I suggest booking with another airline. It's hard enough to fly and having to check luggage so you can bring toothpaste with you, but now it's $15 to take a tube of toothpaste in the hold.
Following in the footsteps of Air Canada, WestJet has added a fuel surcharge of $20, $30 or $45 to short, medium and long-range flights. As I have said before having surcharges is misleading to the customer and should be a temporary measure with all future tickets having the charge included in the price of the fare. A seperate fuel surcharge is deceptive and frankly when you enter into a contract for a service, the price should not be subject to change.
The last large holdout in Canada is now Porter.
To quote Air Canada:
"Air Canada said today that it will implement changes to its checked baggage policy on flights within Canada, and between Canada and the U.S. including Hawaii, effective May 15, 2008 for travel on or after July 15, 2008.
Air Canada added fuel surcharges on to fares for domestic flights and US routes to cover higher fuel costs. For North American flights, the surcharge is $20, $40 or $60 depending on the distance flown, effective immediately. That is in addition to surcharges already in place for flights overseas. The transborder surcharge matches those already announced by many US carriers, Air Canada claimed.
