Princess seems to have added some 7 day cruises out of San Diego. The prices for this particular itinerary looks very good, especially in October. From U$499 for an inside cabin. San Diego is an easy airport to fly into (okay, it's a bit scary, but still the prices to fly into San Diego are great.)

If you want to see, just go to Google Maps and you can see how close the airport is to town. That's right, one runway and it backs to a major intersection. Quite something to see the planes land and take off.

Incidentally, the cruise port is REALLY close to the airport. Don't bother with the cruise company transfer, just grab a taxi.

Travel Deals

In case you don’t know it. Princess sends out email with some good deals at time (and some ordinary deals at other times). The latest deal is for Eastern Caribbean and Western Caribbean out of Fort Lauderdale on the Caribbean Princess from just U$499 for 7 days. Upgrade to an Oceanview for just U$99 extra and for another $198 above that, you can have a balcony.

Stops for the Eastern Caribbean are great, including one of my favorites, St. Martin, where you can grab a shared taxi down to Baie Orientale.

Western Caribbean goes to Cozumel, where there is a great beach (Chankannab National Park) and you can stop by Chedraui if you need to pick up some alcohol or medication.

Now is the time to think about transatlantic cruise deals.

The best deals on one-way transatlantic cruises (often called repositioning cruises) is now! Companies like Royal Caribbean have already reduced the price for their cruises and charters, like Air Transat have fantastic deals returning the first week of May from Europe.

Flying from Barcelona to Montreal, one-way, on Air Transat is now as low as C$324 on the 6th of May. Combine this with a cruise and you have a great deal.

For example, a 12 night cruise out of Miami on the Voyageur of the Seas is just U$599 (inside cabin, taxes extra) is just U$50 a day. You leave on the 21st from Miami and arrive in Barcelona on the 3rd. Air Transat has a non-stop flight to Montreal for just C$324 (taxes included) You can get pretty good airfare from Canada to Fort Lauderdale and now, you can spend a few days in Europe as well.
