Following in the footsteps of Air Canada, WestJet has added a fuel surcharge of $20, $30 or $45 to short, medium and long-range flights. As I have said before having surcharges is misleading to the customer and should be a temporary measure with all future tickets having the charge included in the price of the fare. A seperate fuel surcharge is deceptive and frankly when you enter into a contract for a service, the price should not be subject to change.
The last large holdout in Canada is now Porter.
